Find the Old EMP Trap: Location and Quest Walkthrough
Completing the Straight Record quest in ARC Raiders requires players to navigate dangerous terrain to track down a inactive device on the Dam Battlegrounds map. Assigned by the vendor Celeste, this objective centers around discovering an old EMP trap and restoring power to its surrounding circuits. Understanding the precise location of the machine and its auxiliary switches allows raiders to finish the mission quickly and safely.
Locating the Old EMP Trap
To begin the mission, deploy to the Dam Battlegrounds map and head toward the northern territory of Victory Ridge. The old EMP trap stands near a cluster of ruined structures positioned southwest of West Broken Ridge. You can easily recognize the target by its tall metal pole structure wrapped with thick electrical wiring.
Approaching the device reveals that it is currently powered off and needs interactive repair. Approaching the central pole allows you to interact with the device to initiate the next phase of the quest. Be sure to scan the immediate area for hostile ARC drones before standing exposed near the objective.
Flipping the Northern Ridge Switch
The first required power switch sits on an elevated ridge located directly north of the main EMP device. Ascend the small hill leading away from the central clearing to locate the bright yellow box. Interact with this first terminal to begin restoring electrical flow back to the central apparatus.
Because the northern slope offers little cover, stay alert for roaming enemy patrols or rival players. Once activated, quickly move back down the slope toward the second objective. Keeping your profile low ensures you do not draw unnecessary attention while out in the open.
Reaching the Upper Floor Switch
Head east from the main trap to find a crumbling, reddish ruined building housing the second power switch. The switch is situated on the second story, requiring players to utilize nearby environmental debris or a generator base to climb up. Carefully scale the exterior structure to access the upper floor platform.
Once inside the upper room, locate the yellow power box and interact with it to secure the second link. Taking your time during this platforming section prevents accidental falls that waste valuable raid time. After activating the box, carefully drop back down to ground level.
Finding the Final Switch and Disabling the Trap
The third switch is located south of the main EMP trap near a fallen tree trunk. To locate it easily, simply follow the thick black power cable running along the ground heading southward. Interact with the final switch next to the tree line to complete the power circuit.
Return to the main EMP trap pole and interact with it one final time to complete the mission. Since quest progression saves instantly upon deactivating the device, extraction is not strictly required to claim your rewards from Celeste. You can freely explore the surrounding ruins for extra resources or head straight toward an evacuation point.
